Catching Up

Ryan and I had to make some pretty big adjustments after moving to Idaho Falls. We went from Austin, a city of almost 900,000 people, to Idaho Falls - population: 56,000. In Austin we could eat, drink, shop, catch live music, or walk the trail next to Lady Bird Lake all within 2-4 blocks from our apartment. Here in little ol' Idaho Falls we have to try a little harder to find the fun. Sometimes that means driving a few miles to the Greenbelt along the Snake River or to Snow Eagle Brewery. Other times it means spending hours a day driving around sightseeing.

Our first outings here in Idaho Falls consisted of visiting the Falls and the Greenbelt. We also walked around the little baby downtown and a nearby park.

The then frozen Falls-you just don't see this everywhere. I just love frozen bodies of water! Haha!

Our next little outing was a drive to Kelly Canyon. Kelly Canyon is a tiny little ski area about 45 minutes out of Idaho Falls. A lot of the locals go here because it's close and cheap. An all day lift ticket here is about $34!! We ended up coming back a couple weeks later with friends and skied for the first time in about 10 years. There were lots of laughs (I also may have cried), sore shins, and lots of great memories!!

Our first drive up to Kelly Canyon - the animals are so fluffy! It's precious!

Our next adventure was yet another scenic drive through the little towns of Swan Valley, Victor, Driggs, and Ashton, Idaho.
The Snake River about 20 miles east of town.

Ended up driving through a snow storm in the mountains - a little nerve wracking.
Henry's Fork
Swan Valley is known for the beautiful Palisades Reservior...we found out about that later...all I knew at the time was that they had square ice cream. Naturally. It was no Blue Bell but it was pretty tasty.

Next stop: BOISE!
