Travel Company Questions

Image
I've received a lot of emails recently asking about what questions to ask when speaking with a travel company for the first time. Since I've written about four emails that were long enough to be a book I figured I'd post my favorite questions to ask here - since I guess this is a travel nurse blog and all. - - - - Of course the most important question:  "How much am I going to make?"   Like with everything in life it's complicated. I wish travel companies could streamline this process so that it was easier to understand. Simply put, travel companies have a set amount of money they are going to give you and they divide it up into a few different areas. Housing, hourly, meals or per diem, and travel reimbursement are the main ones you'll see. Some companies have more, others may have less, or they may be worded differently. You'll also notice companies present this information to you in different ways. Some will lump it all together and give you a ...

There's No Place Like Home...

...And we're building ours on wheels! Ryan and I have decided to build a tiny house! So no, I'm not pregnant for the millionth time! Can everyone (probably just my mom) just stop wishing that on us already and just give up?! :) Ryan and I have been doing our research (read: watching days worth of HGTV and YouTube videos) for the past couple of months and tonight we sealed the deal. We have a lender, the company we're buying the plans and trailer from, Ryan has the floor plans all drawn up, and I'm working on getting my next assignment in a tiny house building friendly location, AND I've gone into a Home Depot...and no one had to drag me. I wen...

Especially Ryan, he can tell you pretty much every useless piece of information about our new city than you ever wanted to know. However, we really didn't do that with Baltimore. We just knew we needed to be in this general area to be close to a wedding, so we really didn't get that excited about it and didn't know much before we moved here.  I've definitely enjoyed the history in this area the most for sure, but my second favorite thing is the hiking. I had no idea Maryland was so beautiful. The city of Baltimore is so green! There are trees everywhere and it is so hilly. The city itself is beautiful but the Maryland countryside is gorgeous. A coworker of mine got us started hiking here and I'm so glad she did! Thanks Karen! These pictures are from our hike on Monday in Gunpowder Falls State Park. Ryan, Karen and Karen's friend Beth, Scout the Golden Doodle and Pearl ...
