Catching Up

Image
Ryan and I had to make some pretty big adjustments after moving to Idaho Falls. We went from Austin, a city of almost 900,000 people, to Idaho Falls - population: 56,000. In Austin we could eat, drink, shop, catch live music, or walk the trail next to Lady Bird Lake all within 2-4 blocks from our apartment. Here in little ol' Idaho Falls we have to try a little harder to find the fun. Sometimes that means driving a few miles to the Greenbelt along the Snake River or to Snow Eagle Brewery. Other times it means spending hours a day driving around sightseeing. Our first outings here in Idaho Falls consisted of visiting the Falls and the Greenbelt. We also walked around the little baby downtown and a nearby park.  The frozen Snake River, taken from the Greenbelt. In the background you can see the Mormon Temple The then frozen Falls-you just don't see this everywhere. I just love frozen bodies of water! Haha! Thawing Out in Idaho Falls

Image
Well haaay y'all!! Ryan and I have been busy working and playing and I've just found a few minutes to tell y'all about it. So far, so good here in ol' Idaho. I just finished my 7th week here and we've nestled in quite nicely. I'm really enjoying my job and we've made some really great friends here. We'll be so sad to leave them! So, Idaho Falls is tiny (compared to every other city we've lived in) so it only took us a few weeks to check all the "touristy" things off of our list. It -literally- took TWO days to run into someone we knew at the mall. Idaho Falls is like Temple, TX style small town where everyone knows everyone and their mama. It's been kinda fun being back in a small town. It's really quiet here, even in the middle of a weekday. We rarely hear sirens or loud drunk people making their way down the sidewalk. It's a little weird. But also nice. But also were anxious to get back to a big city! My recruiter has been u...

Getting Settled In Denver

Image
Well y'all, we've made it to Denver. We left Chicago right after I got off work and drove straight through the night to maximize our time at home with family and friends. We got to spend about 5 days catching up and on Friday we started our trek Raton, NM our midway stop. We moved in on Saturday and by that Monday I was sitting in the first day of my week long orientation. Then, by the time I got home Ryan was already asking if we could extend here. Ha! I hadn't even been on the unit yet. But I have to agree, Denver is pretty amazing. There are so many craft breweries here! In fact, there's two right by my hospital, and one or two right by where we live. Convenience. Ha. Our first 9 days here consisted of moving in and work. The last few days we've really gotten to explore our area a little bit. Yesterday we ventured to the front range of the Rocky Mountains and drove the Lariat Loop which is a 40 mile scenic loop through the mountains. The little mountain towns her...
