An Ending and a New Beginning!

No big life decisions here, don't worry, we're not settling down or anything. I mean an ending in Denver and beginning in Thousand Oaks, sillies! We've only been in Thousand Oaks for about a week but it feels like an eternity since my last shift at Rocky Mountain Children's. We spent our last days in Denver finishing up our bucket list, drinking the rest of all the beer with friends, and seeing Kacey Musgraves in concert!
We spent a day in Breckenridge seeing the mountains and catching up with an old Texas friend.
Our last snowy weekend in Denver, we were dunzo with the snow.
Spring had sprung! And then snow happened...and is apparently still happening.
On our way to Mount Rushmore we saw signs for Oregon Trail wagon ruts and had to stop by!

For some reason or another Ryan decided to look to see how far Mount Rushmore was from Denver and it turns out it's only a 6 hour drive! Knowing that the wind never really seems to blow us in the direction of the midwest we thought it was probably the best opportunity we were going to have to make it there. Ideally we would've liked to stay the night but that dang snow got in the way of our plans and we ended up making the 6 hour journey there and back in one day. I HIGHLY recommend going to Mount Rushmore, however it's kinda one of those things you should do on the way somewhere, ya know? We spent about an hour there tops. Since we would've otherwise never seen it I'm really glad we went, even if it meant 12 hours in the car.
The girls really liked the ride...so many new smells!

Getting to spend some good quality time with our buddies at the end of our assignment was so fun! About half of our initial orientation group stayed behind and extended their contracts. The other half were moving on to places like Anchorage, Austin, and NYC...and little ol' Thousand Oaks.
One last trip to Casa Bonita! To eat as much less than mediocre Mexican food as we possibly could and take in the sights. This is definitely a Denver must do but you don't go for the food.
You've been warned.
Lunch with Lisa and Molly before Kacey Musgraves! So many cheladas...and palomas :)
Kacey is perfect and I look forward to going to many more of her concerts! Can we just talk about those boots?!

After the concert we got home around 11pm and had to be up and at 'em early the next morning to start our trek back to the West Coast! We spent a night in Moab, UT and a night in our very first home away from home, VEGAS! More to come on that later.
